Artist Baldin Ahmad
Baldin Ahmad (1954, Iraq) is an Koerdische Iraqi artist who studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and continued his studies at the Academia of Fine Arts in Florence. He earned his PhD Modern Art (D.A.M.S) at the University of Bologna in Italy. A focal point of his career was his 1986 exhibit with fellow countryman at the prestigious Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara in Italy where his paintings and sculptures were engraved with messages of freedom against the oppression of the Iraqi regime, especially against the Kurds. His work appeared in 2009 and 2011 in Venice Biennale. You might want to travel without hesitation to the provinces and the cities he paints. These are places with a warm human environment, whether it is day or night, whether it rains or the sun shines. He admits that such sites do not exist, as he calls them imaginary, perhaps a homeland free of oppression.
