Artist Marcel Taton
(1957, Congo Africa) is a Belgium artist who brings his vivid imagination into artistic reality combining figurative and surrealistic elements in his artwork. Taton's enthusiasm for his art lends surprise and humor to his creations in various mediums which could be paintings, collages, assemblages, tapestry, glass, bronze, or a combination of all. A master of casting, Taton's bronzes bring the fantastic to life in the form of playful, baroque figures often fused with Murano glass ornaments or clothed in fabric garments. A magician, he conjures up sculptures from found objects, combining them with bronze figures in such a way to remind us of both the humour and pathos of the human condition. Puns in his titles connect the impishness of his visible reality to the viewer's more literal definition of the world around him. The sudden irony of a whimsical figure we have never seen before unleashes a totally unexpected awareness. Taton's worldwide audiences eagerly await each of his unique creations with the anticipation of attending a surprise exhibition vernissage.
