Artist Michael van Pinxteren
(1961, NL) is a sculptor who works in stone, bronze and wood. Especially in the images of wood sculptor shows a "modern" conception of sculpture that began with Arp. In his stone and bronze sculptures he shows rather a "classical" view which can be seen in a line with Rodin and Maillol. Pinxteren creates abstract sculpture in classic style, his images have a highly emotional poetic reality. As so often of certain sculpture they invite being touched and it is not prohibited to admit to the AAI tendency.
The sensual perception enhances the sculpture to invite the viewer to have a more free association. Pinxteren wants to help us stay clearly on track and gives his pictures titles which point to connotations such as: "Salvaged", "Awakening", "Solidarity", "Travel in Space." The latter title refers not to a spaceship but an image that has wings on an abstract-organic body.
The picture shows our imagination literally wings. In many images of Michael Pinxteren are recognizable elements of bodies for: wings, arms, hands or head. The artist will connect to classic conception observations in antiquity museums of torso´s which are missing arms or heads.
