Artist Theo Mackaay
Theo Mackaay (1950, NL) is a sculptor, painter and musician who has from his teenage years found his passion through music and painting. Mackaay's study at the Gerrit Rietveld and Rijks Academy in Amsterdam paved the way to his future by focusing on the 20th century school of sculpture in the tradition of Pereke, Moore and Zakine. Through this influence and his persistent belief in the expression of elementary and organic form, Mackaay developed his own style. Since his creation of the Golden Calf sculpture as the prize for the Netherlands Film Festival, the artist's abstract figurative paintings have shown a progression through deep blues and greens where the emotion unfolds to express the artists lust for life and life's' blues sung through his brush and canvas.
